James M. Birnbaum
James M. Birnbaum has a busy law practice, with a focus on estates (including wills, trusts, probates and administrations), municipal law, and general litigation. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Boston University School of Law. He represents companies large and small, both for-profit and not-for-profit, in litigation and transactional matters. He has litigated hundreds of disputes involving general business matters, estates, municipal, and real estate matters, among other areas of the law.
James’ public service work and governmental representation is dear to him. He has served as Village Attorney for the Village of South Nyack since April 2017. He previously represented the Rockland County Legislature as its Legislative Counsel.
He is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
James has served in various capacities on the Executive Board of the Rockland County Bar Association over the years. He is Past President of the Board of Directors of the Rockland Conservatory of Music, a member of the New York State Bar Association, and is active in its Elder Law and Special Needs and Trusts and Estates Section.
